These celebrations do not have a fixed date. Hajj or the pilgrimage to Mecca is the 5th pillar of the Islamic faith. It recommends a visit to Mecca at least once in a lifetime for those who can afford it. Many Muslims from all over the world participate in the pilgrimage. During the pilgrimage, Muslims are required to suppress their negative passions, refrain from violence, be pure in words and to avoid all that is evil. Muslims usually slaughter a lamb during the celebration of idd –ul –Hajj which means “the day of sacrifice”. This symbolic act is translated into social action, for instance by generous donations of money for the promotion of education, health, culture, social and environmental conservation issues.
Our elders were able to establish and pass on to us a clean Mecca. They set for us a good example of establishing, taking care not to annoy anyone or be destructive especially during this season . The environment belongs to Allah and we do not want to anger Him by degrading it. Just the way we take care of ourselves, let us also extend good care for our environment.
