Roles of project proponents in environmental audit
What are the roles played by project proponents with regard to EA and monitoring based on EMCA Cap 387?
The owner of the premises or the operator of a project for which an environmental impact assessment study report has been made:-
1. Shall keep accurate records of the operations of the project (EMCA Section 68.3).
2. Shall make annual reports to the Authority describing how far the project conforms in operation with the statements made in the environmental impact assessment study report (EMCA Section 68.3).
3. Shall take all reasonable measures to mitigate any undesirable effects not contemplated in the environmental impact assessment study report (EMCA Section 68.4).
4. Shall prepare and submit an environmental audit report on those measures to NEMA annually or as NEMA may, in writing, require (EMCA Section 68.4). Question
