Waste licensing process
Process of acquiring a waste license from NEMA
1. Ensure they submit an EIA Study report if the facility is new.
2. Ensure the company submits an annual audit report to NEMA as required by EMCA Cap 387
3. Fill the application for a waste license in the prescribed form (EMCA Section 88.1; 89)
4. Be in possession of any other license that may be required by the relevant Local Authority (EMCA Section 88.2)
5. Pay the prescribed fee (EMCA Section 88.2).
6. NEMA to solicit comments from other lead agencies and organizations
7. NEMA makes a decision to accept or reject the application
8. Where NEMA rejects an application for the grant of a waste license, it shall within twenty one days notify the applicant in writing of its reasons for such refusal (EMCA Section 88.3)
