Roles of the Cabinet Secretary in NET

What role does the Cabinet Secretary play with regard to the National Environment Tribunal (NET)?


1. Appoints 4 members of the National Environment Tribunal.
2. Issues a Gazettes Notice for all the 6 members appointed by name to the National Environment Tribunal.
3. Promotes consistency in the Tribunal by ensuring that members of the Tribunal are appointed at different times so that the respective expiry dates of their terms of office fall at different times.
4. Appoint a public officer to be the secretary to the Tribunal who shall be paid such allowances as the Cabinet Secretary shall determine.
5. May establish such other Tribunals in any part of Kenya as s/he deems appropriate.
